Long Weekend is OVER!

As much as I know how important long weekends are to those who work outside the home...I sort of dread them. I am a stay at home mom, very proud to be one. I get to witness everything in my children's lives...whether I want to see it or not. Thankfully my kids are only 5 and 3 so they aren't doing overly crazy stuff yet. So, back to 3 day weekends, the inevitably mean more work for ME! An extra day that everyone is home and usually extra house quests on some level. I made 3 extra trips to the grocery store, one more to the liquor store and had to reclean everything for our dinner guests Saturday. Not for them...mostly for my own pride but still. I was thrilled when my oldest had to go to school this morning and my husband had to scoot off to work! Some free time! (with my younger daughter Gracie of course!)

I took Jillian to school and "dropped" her off with the volunteers so she was able to walk in all by herself! AH! Growing up so fast!

Here's my younger daughter from her party!

It's Friday!

The end of the first week of kindergarten has been rough. No not on the child...on me! I actually got the morning "off"! Jillian was at school and my wonderful husband took the younger one to work with him! His office closed at noon for the holiday. I went for a jog down at Town Lake/Lady Bird Lake and then went to a coffee shop and knitted while drinking a cup of coffee that I did not have to brew myself! Very exciting stuff!

I finished my first leg warmer. It's a little big. I am hoping that if I wash it it will shrink down a bit, otherwise I am going to have to alter my "pattern" a bit. So I promise not to fall victim of SSS because I am really curious if I can pull it off.

I have cast on my Malabrigo project! I am making the Rainy Day Scarf! Wahoo! It is just delicious! Here is what I have so far:-)

A Leg Warmer is DONE!

Just thought I would share!

Mmmmmmalabrigo!

I finally did it. I went out and bought some Malabrigo yarn. It really is worth all the hype!

I heard from my secret swapper today! SO EXCITING!!! I love surprises! It's going to be like Christmas! I ordered some yarn for my swappee last week and it should arrive any day! I won't get too specific just in case she happens to know who I am or even if she comes to my page! I just am having issues finding a good pattern. It will all come together!

Here is another update photo for my leg warmers! They are looking pretty groovy...even though my husband picks on me for making them but I think they will be PERFECT for winter in Texas!

My younger daughter had her three year well check and her flu shot. She is perfectly healthy and the doctor even commented on the muscle tone in her legs! YAY Grace!

DUH!

So, yesterday my house alarm quit working! I call the alarm company in a panic and they couldn't get someone out here until this morning! AH! I felt pretty stupid when they told me it quit working because it had become unplugged and the backup battery had died. Oops.

Progress on my scarf!
It is being draped over my wine glass:-) I am still not sure how it will turn out but I am having fun with it.

Here is a scarf I just finished too! It was a divided box pattern that was fairly easy to memorize. It's a mixture of pinks and oranges and yellows.

Next are my legwarmers!

First Day

Today was a big day in my house. My older daughter, Jillian, started kindergarten. I walked her to class and helped her put away all of her things...all the while she is staring at me wondering WHY I was still there. So I kissed her on the cheek and with a few other moms stared at them politely thru the window for a little while.

My other daughter, Grace, turned 3 over the weekend and had her very first big girl gymnastics class today. I thought she would be slightly hesitant at first and at LEAST pretend to want me in the class room. No...she very proudly bounced by the window shouting "Look at meeeee Mom!". I was actually quite proud.

I am also working on a new project (OTN= on the needles). It's a pretty hat that I saw on KnittingHelp.com on the forum. The design is by Marnie MacLean. You should look at it! It's GORGEOUS! No, knitting is NOT for just the blue hairs anymore.
